Steve Cox

 

Steve is CEO of Elixir Securities, which he founded in 2002. In 2005, Elixir became the highest-ranked independent research firm in the Biotech sector according to the Extel Survey. Later that year Steve fronted a strategic collaboration with New York-based investment banking firm, Rodman & Renshaw, LLC.  Elixir has since built a reputation as trusted advisor to early-stage public and private life-sciences companies seeking individual financing solutions.

Prior to founding Elixir, Steve was the Head of Biotech & Healthcare research at Commerzbank Securities where he coordinated the pan-European research team and sat on the Investment Commitment Committee for the Private Equity investment fund. Prior to Commerzbank Steve worked at UBS, where he was instrumental in Serono’s $2bn secondary financing and Genmab’s $230m IPO; HSBC, where he worked in the #1 ranked pharmaceuticals team and at Cazenove where he headed a team which was responsible for 16 IPOs in the sector raising a total of $640m for companies including Cambridge Antibody Technologies, Vernalis (previosly Vanguard Medica) and Celltech. Whilst at Cazenove, Steve also worked on the defense of Wellcome and Fisons against their respective bids from Glaxo and Rhone Poulenc.

 

Stephen Waterman

 

Stephen joined Elixir in mid 2003 after working at Commerzbank as a Pan-European Pharmaceuticals Analyst. Since joining Elixir, Stephen has worked on a number of public and private financings for US and European companies. In collaboration with Rodman & Renshaw, Stephen has been responsible for the initiation and execution of a number of licensing and M&A mandates with European companies. He was also a key member of the research team that was ranked the leading independent research house in 2005.

Prior to joining Commerzbank in 2002, Stephen worked at Teather & Greenwood, where he covered the UK Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology sectors and Evaluate Plc, where he was the Senior Analyst responsible for the operational running of the company. Stephen received his PhD in Neuropharmacology from Cambridge University and also has a BSc in Genetics from Nottingham University.

Geoffrey Cox (Non-executive Director)

 

Geoffrey F. Cox, Ph.D.has been Chairman, President and CEO of GTC Biotherapeutics since 2001. Under his stewardship, GTC became the first company to have a transgeni- protein therapeutic approved by a regulatory agency (the EMEA). Geoffrey has more than 30 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology experience. In 1984, Geoffrey joined Genzyme Corporation in the U.K. and became Senior Vice President, Operations in the U.S. in 1988. Geoffrey later became Executive Vice President responsible for operations and the pharmaceutical, diagnostic and genetics business units of Genzyme.

Prior to joining Genzyme, Geoffrey was General Manager of U.K. manufacturing operations for Gist-Brocades. In 1997, Geoffrey became Chairman and CEO of Aronex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and subsequently, in July 2001, became . Geoffrey is also a member of the Board of Directors of BIO and sits on their Emerging Companies Section and Healthcare Section Governing Body Committees. In 2007, Geoffrey was appointed Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors for Nabi Biopharmaceuticals.

 

Rino Coladangelo (Non-executive Director)

 

Dr Rino Coladangelo M.B.,B.S., M.R.C.P. is the Chief Executive officer of Medix Limited, a private UK-based provider of online scientific and commercial services both to Medical Practitioners and the Pharmaceutical industry. Rino is a senior physician with a clinical and management track record in both the NHS and private medicine. He has had extensive general medical experience as a Principal in a General practice for 17 years.

Rino trained at the Middlesex Hospital and held various senior management and clinical roles at North Hertfordshire NHS Trust including: Director of Primary Care Services, Managing Director, Clinical Services and ultimately as Chief Executive. He continues in part-time medical practice in London.
